Dr Nikolle Tan is a Cataract surgeon and Retina Specialist with almost 20 years of experience. Her sub-speciality training in diseases of the Retina, and her many years of experience in diagnosing and treating these complex disorders make her an authority in this field. She is also skilled in the treatment of cataracts, including complex cataracts.
She was the Head of the Vitreo-Retina services as well as Head of the Eye Diagnostic Services in the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute / Tan Tock Seng Hospital Department of Ophthalmology. She currently holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Senior Visiting Consultant at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Tan received her Vitreo-Retina fellowship training from the prestigious Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (Melbourne, Australia). In addition, she also received sub-specialty training at the Harvard Medical School (Massachusetts, USA).
Diagnosing diseases of the Retina requires technical equipment and complex investigations. Treatments require extreme precision, and often involve microsurgical procedures. Dr Tan’s expertise in diagnosing and treating these complex disorders makes her one of the leaders in this field.
She is an expert in her field and sits on the Advisory Boards of several major industry partners like Bayer and Novartis. In this role, she and her international colleagues define the treatment strategies in the complex field of managing retinal conditions like age-related macular degeneration and diabetic maculopathy. She is also regularly invited to speak and teach on these topics at numerous international conferences.
